Ruth Butters asked:

One of the most exciting results of the ongoing research on CoQ10 benefits is the role it plays in maintaining and restoring heart health.

Over the years numerous studies have investigated the benefit of Coemzyme Q10 supplementation for improving cardiovascular function and over all heart health. The compound, a potent antioxidant, has been proven to enhance energy production and improve the ability of heart muscles to contract.

Landmark study demonstrates effectiveness

A landmark 1994 study, which involved more than 400 patients with cardiac disease, summarized eight years of research on the usefulness of CoQ10 in clinical cardiology. The patients were supplemented with oral CoQ10 at daily doses of 75-600 mg in addition to their conventional medical regimen, and were followed for an average of 17.8 months.

The clinical response of this study was evaluated according to the New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional scale. The results were very encouraging; 58 percent of patients improved by one NYHA class, 28 percent by two classes, and 1.2 percent by three NYHA classes.

Medical dependency was also tracked, and 43 percent of patients receiving the coQ10 supplements stopped between one and three medications, with no side effects reported.

Continued research confirms role as heart heath helper

A mounting body of research confirms the the benefit of CoQ10 supplementation for various cardiovascular conditions.

One important clinical study, for example, found that people who received daily CoQ10 supplements within 3 days of a heart attack were significantly less likely to experience subsequent heart attacks and chest pain. In addition, these same patients were less likely to die of heart disease than those who did not receive the supplements. CoQ10 supplementation is believed to reduce swelling and blood pooling in the lungs and legs of patients with congestive heart failure. Numerous clinical studies suggest that 4 to 12 weeks of CoQ10 supplementation may lower blood pressure Clinical studies show that introducing coQ10 supplementation prior to heart surgery can reduce free radical damage, lower the incidence of arrythmias, and shorten recovery time. CoQ10 may help prevent heart damage caused by certain chemotherapy drugs.

Caffeinated Content for WordPress

Rich Hawkins asked:

Let’s face it, many of us know that fish oil for heart health is a good thing, but did you realize just how effective it is and how many benefits it can bring to your life?

With heart foundations and even the government advising us to take a daily supplement, it’s obvious it can help us, but just how do they reduce our risk of heart disease and keep us healthy?

It is the power of the omega 3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA that help fish oil for heart health be so effective. They stop the platelets in the blood from sticking together, helping to prevent a clot and improving the circulation. They also reduce the blood fats related to cholesterol to lower the blood pressure.

This is also called hypertension and known as the silent killer as we don’t know anything is wrong until it’s too late, and it is thought that the taking of a daily preventative quality DHA omega 3 supplement has saved hundreds of thousands of lives.

In addition, they help to strengthen the heart’s electrical system and thereby prevent any heart-rhythm abnormalities.

With the vast array of other benefits too like improved brain health and mental-well being, prevention of ****** and colon cancer and an improved immune system, fish oil for heart health is just one of many.

In order to select one that will deliver these benefits, here are some quick tips.

Ensure the supplement has as higher level of DHA compared to EPA as DHA is responsible for most of the benefits and most do not have much at all. I would recommend at least 250mg of DHA per tablet.

Next it is vital that it is pharmaceutical grade and has undergone molecular distillation to remove any harmful toxins like mercury, leaving only safe pure oil.

If you follow these tips you will be able to select a quality oil and start enjoying the many life saving benefits, including fish oil for heart health.

If you would like to learn more about the high quality DHA fish oil supplements I personally take daily, visit my website today.

Caffeinated Content for WordPress

Dr. John Heinerman asked:

Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death among Americans and Britons alike. Heart disease also kills more women than men, accounting for one in five female deaths. Even more startling, however, is that it claims responsibility for more deaths in women than all forms of cancer combined.

And yet there is surprisingly good news. Heart disease is one of the most preventable health conditions. In fact, people have the power to reduce many of their risks by simply avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, exercising often and taking certain supplements regularly.

Patients suffering from congestive heart failure exhibit impaired myocardial energy production and increased oxidative stress. One of the most important nutritional factors for myocardial energy production and the reduction of oxidative stress is CoQ10. It is found in virtually all cells of the human body, including the heart, liver, and skeletal muscles.

CoQ10 functions as a carrier to transfer electrons across the membrane of mitochondria (the energy generator in the body’s cells) to create the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the fuel that energizes cells in our body. Heart muscle cells have the greatest concentration of mitochondria at 5000 per cell.

“Molecular Aspects of Medicine” (18:S137) reported that patients with elevated cholesterol levels, who were taking either Pravastatin or Lovastatin over a period of 18 weeks, lost close to 30% of their total serum levels of CoQ10. Therefore, anyone taking prescription statin drugs to lower their cholesterol levels will also experience dramatic decreases in their CoQ10 counts as well and will need to supplement to attain adequate amounts. Additionally, research in patients with hypertension indicates that treatment with CoQ10 decreases blood pressure by diminishing the oxidative stress associated with congestive heart failure.

A recent review on the effects of omega 3 fatty acids concerning cardiovascular disease revealed that increased consumption of omega 3 fatty acids from fish or fish oil supplements, reduced the rate of mortality, cardiac and sudden death — even strokes.

Although the success levels were not quite the same as reported with the omega 3 fatty acids obtained from fish and fish oil, similar studies on flaxseed and walnuts have also been conducted with positive results for the same indications.

Other substances such as policosanol, phytosterols, L-carnitine, D-ribose, beta-glucans and tocotrienols can affect the positive outcome of cardiovascular disease when used in conjunction with a sensible diet and regular exercise. There are ample reports in the medical literature to justify their use in heart disease and stroke.

Personal heart health can be dramatically improved if an informed consumer is made aware of what is available in the market place. When paired together CoQ10 (www.nutriplusonline.co.uk/listman/listings/l0013.shtml)and essential fatty acids, i.e. omega 3 types (www.nutriplusonline.co.uk/listman/listings/l0016.shtml). go a long way toward achieving this.

Caffeinated Content for WordPress

Rich Hawkins asked:

The benefits of fish oil for heart health cannot be understated, and it is estimated that it saves hundreds of thousands of lives each year due to the power of its omega 3 fatty acids.

They can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease by helping to prevent clots in the blood, improving circulation and lowering the build-up of bad or LDL cholesterol. Fish oil heart health research has also shown how it can strengthen the heart’s electrical system, helping to prevent heart rhythm abnormalities.

Much of the current fish oil for heart health research came about when scientists noticed the curious low incidence of any heart disease in Eskimos despite their high-fat diet. The fact was they were eating fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids!

Experts agree that to get the full impact from this oil, it is better to take a supplement as you would need to eat a lot of the right fish and due to the pollution today it is not advisable to eat too much.

Look for a supplement high in DHA and EPA omega-3, with DHA levels being by far the most important for the main benefits. If possible it should be sourced from the purest waters like the Southern Ocean of New Zealand, said to have the most pristine water on earth.

Pharmaceutical-grade or molecularly distilled oil is essential to ensure that all of the impurities like mercury and arsenic have been safely removed and the fish is still in its pure or ester form for easy absorption.

When you consider the many benefits that this amazing substance has, fish oil for heart health is just one of the reasons to include it into your daily routine.

If you would like to learn more about the omega-3 supplements I personally take, please visit my website.

Caffeinated Content

Alexander Holt asked:

The heart is the most important muscle in our body, it’s our life pump. It is one of the few organs that are expected to work continuously, without rest, for a lifetime.

The heart beats about 70 times a minute, 100,000 times a day and about 36 million times a year. It pumps the equivalent of 2,500 – 5,000 gallons of blood per day through approximately 60,000 miles (100,000 km) of blood vessels. During an average lifetime, the heart will beat more than 2.5 billion times.

Because of all that the heart muscle requires the highest level of energetic support at all times. And this is where Coenzyme Q10 comes into play.

We all get our energy from food. Food is eaten and than broken down into small pieces called glucose. The blood carries the glucose to every cell in the body, where it is broken down further, releasing energy into the cell.

Coenzyme Q10 is a substance that is involved in the production of energy in cells. Its main function is to carry electrons that are needed in the energy generation process. It is found in high concentrations in tissues and organs that require a lot of energy. And because the heart requires huge amounts of energy, CoEnzyme Q10 plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy heart.

Current research shows that heart disease may be connected to insufficient levels of Coenzyme Q-10. When deficiency occurs the heart may be the most affected organ, which can lead to some serious problems.

Coenzyme Q-10 is found naturally throughout the human body. Small amounts of it are obtained through the foods we eat (the richest sources are meat, poultry and fish), but the majority is created directly by the body.

The typical daily dietary intake of this compound is only about 2-5 mg, which is far below the amount needed for optimum health. Aging and illness deplete the body’s stores even further. At the age of 50 we produce half the amount of CoQ10 as we did when we were 20.

Although CoQ10 is available from foods, it is difficult to obtain enough of it from diet alone, especially in our later years. However, it can be taken as a supplement.

Supplementing CoQ10 has many health benefits such as strengthening the heart, improving the immune system and lowering blood pressure. Increasing levels of coenzyme Q10 give cells in the heart the ability to make more energy for pumping blood, which increases strength and output capacity.

CoQ10 is also one of the most potent antioxidants known. It plays a key role in treatment of cardiovascular illnesses, including congestive heart failure. It can also help with a number of other diseases such as diabetes, kidney failure, migraine, Alzheimer’s disease, and more. Some doctors recommend it after heart surgery to speed recovery.

Create a video blog

Ric Hawkins asked:

With the profile of curcumin being so much higher now as we become aware of its incredible qualities, the question of how much curcumin should you use for heart health is an ever present one. The crucial factors here are the quality and delivery method, let me explain.

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric can play a vital role in protecting the heart, as you must know, due to its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities. Were you aware it can also help to prevent cancer, lower bad cholesterol and aid with skin irritations?

There is no set dosage in answer to your question of how much curcumin should you use for heart health, but with some companies offering doses of 1000mg a day and higher, is more necessarily better? Absolutely not!

Curcumin is not easily absorbed into the bloodstream as most that is taken is lost to the stomach acid. The best way forward is to use it in a multi health supplement that has other nutrients in it and an enteric coating.

This special coating allows it to pass unscathed through the stomach and into the upper intestine where it has maximum impact. If combined with other synergistic nutrients like piperine for example, from black pepper, its absorption rate can increase by up to 2000%, leaving no need for large or expensive doses.

This way you get the incredible heart benefits from curcumin and the benefits of the other ingredients and their interaction with each other, truly a win-win situation!

As a guide you should look for 98% pure curcumin extract at around 50mg per tablet to reap the full benefits.

We have much more to see from this humble compound, but why wait, now you know the answer to how much curcumin should you use for heart health, as you can have all the benefits now and start to protect your heart and prevent serious diseases further down the line.

Visit my website today if you would like to learn more about the synergistic health supplements which I personally take, including curcumin.

heart health

Kevin Agrawal asked:

Your heart works hard to continuously pump blood, non-stop, to other parts of the body. Incredibly, it pumps 2000 gallons a day and beats about 100,000 beats a day! This rhythmic pumping ensures the circulation of a fresh supply of oxygen-rich blood to all organs, tissues and cells of the body.

Your heart is your lifeline, and heart health should be a priority. Certain lifestyle choices we make can have consequences for our hearts, which can also affect the functions of other important organs and tissues. For optimal health it is important that we adjust our lifestyle, and make choices to promote heart health.

Taking steps in the right direction have had positive and proven benefits for heart health. Here are some tips to help keep your heart healthy.

Watch your diet. Maintain a low fat diet and include lots of fruits and vegetables. The Recommended Daily Allowance for fruits and vegetables is at least 2 to 3 cups a day. Eating green leafy vegetables is also highly recommended. Include fatty fish at least twice a week in your diet. Maintain a healthy weight. It is a known fact that blood pressure increases as your weight increases. Eating a healthy balanced diet is the first step towards achieving your normal weight limit for your height and age.

In addition to maintaining a healthy weight, doctors recommend that we watch the waistline! An expanding midriff can also put extra pressure on your heart. As a general guideline, men should keep their waistline within 40 inches; women, within 35 inches. Physical activity. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. Aerobic exercises or even a brisk walk will help strengthen the heart and support blood circulation. A stronger heart means the heart can pump more blood with less effort. It is important to establish a regular exercise pattern and remain consistent. Consistency will give you the maximum benefits from your exercise regimen. You should always check with your doctor before beginning any exercise regimen, especially if you are over 40, a smoker, or suffer from any medical condition. Monitor the intake of sodium in your diet. Many processed foods (including vegetable juices) contain high amounts of sodium. Read labels carefully. You may want to avoid adding more table salt to your food. Instead, try adding ground herbs and spices for more taste. You can also try eating more fresh foods since cooked and processed foods are likely to contain more sodium. Moderate your consumption of alcohol. Moderate consumption of alcohol is considered acceptable by most medical experts. Excessive drinking can have multiple adverse effects on cardiovascular health. Quit smoking. Smoking can be harmful to the heart. Medical experts agree that total abstinence from smoking is a positive way to maintain heart health — this includes second-hand smoke too. Reduce stress. Try to get eight hours of sleep a night. If you are under unavoidable stress, find ways to help de-stress. It can be as simple as including time for your favorite hobby during the week, watching your favorite TV program, getting together with friends or even a relaxing massage. Have a good laugh. There is something to the old adage, “A merry heart works like medicine.” Dr. Michael Miller, who led studies at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, suggests a 15-minute daily dose of heartfelt laughter to support heart health.

Taking nutritional supplements is another positive approach to maintaining heart health. If you are unsure about which nutritional supplement to use, ask your doctor for advice. Some well researched ingredients are:

Natto-kinase, a Japanese herb that has traditionally been used as nutritional support for proper blood circulation and heart health. Hawthorn leaves also support healthy blood circulation. Vitamin D supports healthy functioning of the heart. Taurine is an antioxidant. Folic acid and phytosteroscial for both heart and blood health, according to the American Medical Association.

Making positive changes to your lifestyle and adding a quality nutritional supplement, like CardioMatrix, can help promote a happy, healthy heart.

Caffeinated Content – Members-Only Content for WordPress

Diana Ketchen asked:

Fish oil for heart and overall health benefits have been the hot topic for quite some time, and for good reason. You’ve heard about it on the news, the web, and have probably even seen it headlined in some of your local newspapers. Almost everyone owns at least one bottle of these oil supplements. The oil comes from cold water fish such as Hoki, tuna, salmon, cod, and mackerel. Fortunately, it can be derived from these food sources and manifested into supplement form, making it easier to obtain the appropriate daily amount.

Doctors usually recommend fish oil for heart benefits for their cardiovascular patients. Even if you have never suffered a heart attack or have heart issues, you should still take this daily supplement. The heart is a muscle and it needs as much care and conditioning that it can get. One of the things that this oil can do for your heart health is lower bad cholesterol. People who have high cholesterol levels sometimes do not know it, but consuming foods such as cheese cakes, foods cooked in grease, cookies, cakes, virtually all fast foods, bagels, ice cream, milk, beef, and pork can play a major contribution in developing it.

You do not have to be overweight to have bad cholesterol. As a matter of fact, you do not even have to be old. High cholesterol and heart disease go hand in hand, it is better take preventative measures now, before the problems begin to set in. This fish supplement actually lowers bad cholesterol and increases your good cholesterol, which to can lead to an overall healthy heart.

When fats begin to build on the artery walls inside of the fatty deposits of the heart, they create the perfect scene for a heart attack, which can be deadly if not caught beforehand. Eating foods similar to those listed above can cause these fats to build, and lead to more heart complications. Taking fish oil for heart benefits can stop these fatty deposits from multiplying, thus protecting you from future heart attacks.

The oil also contains omega 3 fatty acids. These acids can serve as a natural blood thinner and prevent the platelets from forming a clot, which can be life-saving. Taking fish oil for heart benefits is one of the most educated decisions you will ever make. Along with a healthy diet and plenty of exercise, your heart will be strong and protected. However, if you are on other medications for your heart, you should always consult with your doctor before starting any new health supplements.

Those who have allergies to cold water fish should take caution before consuming a fish oil for heart supplement. You are going to find that you can move better and feel happier due to it’s joint and psychological benefits. These supplements naturally uplift the mood, contain fats that are readily able to digest like EPA and DHA, lessen inflammation in the body, and best of all, promote heart health in ways that nothing else can compare to.

Caffeinated Content

Michael Holman asked:

If you are like me, you have probably already heard people recommending fish oil for heart health. There are a lot of other health benefits also attributed to it. Is it really true? Or is it all just hype? Let’s find out.

Here’s the good news. Research has shown that it is in fact, good to take fish oil for heart health. Provided you take the right oil containing the right ingredients. But more on that later. First let’s see what this oil can do for our heart.

Omega 3 oil has been found to prevent Thrombosis. It does so by preventing the blood platelets from sticking together. When these platelets begin to clot, they block the arteries and restrict the flow of blood. This ultimately leads to heart attacks. Omega 3 also regulates the electrical system of our heart and helps in preventing any heart rhythm abnormalities.

Another way the oil helps the heart is by reducing the Triglycerides present in the blood. Triglycerides are fats closely related to cholesterol. They are also responsible for blocking arteries and causing heart attacks.

As a validation of fish oil heart benefits, even the American Heart Association recommends taking it for the heart.

So the next question is what kind of oil to take?

Most of the benefits of the oil can be attributed to the DHA Omega 3 fats present in it. So you need to look for an oil rich in DHA, along with EPA added in for good measure. Together, these two essential fats account for most of the health benefits of Omega 3 oils.

The Hoki fish found in New Zealand is one of the best sources of DHA and EPA. It is found in abundance near the southern coast of New Zealand, which is a pristine area free from industrial pollution. This means the Hoki found there doesn’t contain any contaminants in it.

There can still be some natural pollutants present in the fish too. So if you take fish oil for heart, you need to make sure it has been properly refined to remove all natural and industrial pollutants. Molecular Distillation is the process that can do this effectively. Check if your oil has undergone this refining process.

One more thing to note is, the DHA content in the oil should be more than the EPA content. The reason for this is, latest research has shown that DHA is much more beneficial to our health than EPA. Also, our body can easily convert DHA into EPA by a simple process, if needed. But the reverse process is not possible. So we have to get all our DHA from an external source like fish oil only.

In conclusion, taking fish oil for heart is one of the best ways to keep our heart fit and free from diseases. So go now and find out a good oil to keep your heart running in prime condition!

Create a video blog

Therese Samson asked:

Have you heard about the benefits of fish oil for your heart? Are you wondering whether you really need to take a supplement or eat more fish? Let me take a little of your time to tell you about how your heart can benefit, even if you don’t suffer from heart disease.

Oily fish such as salmon and mackerel contain essential fatty acids called omega 3s. The main omega 3 fatty acids are DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). These are not readily produced by your body on its own so it’s necessary to get adequate amounts from either food or supplements.

Fish oil benefits for heart health have been shown through numerous clinical studies.

Blood triglycerides are a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease but many clinical studies have shown that omega 3s can lower these blood fats.

DHA has also been shown to increase the level of HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol that is essential for good health) and reduce the level of LDL particles (the bad cholesterol).

Mild hypertension (high blood pressure) associated with cardiovascular disease can be reduced. Omega 3 fatty acids can also help to avoid blood clots by preventing platelets sticking together.

DHA can lower heart rates and prevent disturbances in your heart’s rhythm, which decreases the chances of a heart attack.

Finally, the essential fatty acids stimulate blood circulation and increase the breakdown of the compound involved in clots and scar formation. People suffering from conditions such as varicose veins and Raynaud’s disease can get relief from consuming more DHA and EPA.

The best sources of fish oil

Ideally, we would be able to get all the omega 3s we need by simply eating more fish. Unfortunately, this is not without risks. Many species are contaminated by toxins and heavy metals so the advantages of eating them could be outweighed by the dangers.

So what’s the alternative?

Supplements are an increasingly popular way to get the body’s essential fatty acids without the risks of contamination. The very best supplements will be made from species taken from areas where toxins are low or non-existent, such as the Southern Ocean.

You can get more information about the many other benefits of fish oil (such as its role in preventing brain disorders, skin problems and arthritis), as well as help with finding the best supplements, at my website.

Caffeinated Content for WordPress
